HHHS Haliburton Hospital Auxiliary

Celebrating 45 years of service to our community! Haliburton Hospital Auxiliary was created in 1971 and with the support of our community has been able to purchase over $1.3 million dollars worth of medical and non-medical items for our hospital.

Over the years, volunteers have conducted fund-raising events to provide much needed equipment (medical and non-medical)  for the Acute Care, Emergency and Long-Term Care Departments. These fundraising efforts help to ensure modern, up-to-date equipment is available to provide the best possible care to residents and patients.

The Gift Shop, located by the main doors, opened in 2000. The shop carries many gifts, clothing items, and useful patient/resident items.  Gift shop hours are Monday to Friday 11:30 to 4:00.

Annual Events:

Geranium Sales in May, The Anniversary Tea Auction in June, Tag Day in July, International Night in October, Quilt Raffle, Christmas ornament sales.  Our now famous Wheelbarrow of Wine raffle tickets are on sale starting in May. The Auxiliary takes part in the Farmers Market, Midnight Madness, Colourfest and holds an Open House and Bake sale in December where the winner of the Wheelbarrow of Wine will be announced.

Recent Purchases Include:

At 2015-16 fiscal year end we presented a cheque to the HHHS for $58,588. Funds were used to purchase:

  • Four I.V. Pumps
  • Steamer, Ice Machine and Hot Holding unit for Food Services
  • Hand Hygiene system
  • Sanitizer system for Highland Wood
  • Treatment Chairs, Staxi (wheelchairs) Chairs
  • Adjustable sink for the hair salon
  • Respirator Fit Tester
  • Inflatable Anteroom

Meetings are held the First Wednesday of each month at 1:00 pm on the lower level of  the hospital in the Ruth Parkes Room.


HHHS Minden Healthcare Auxiliary

Our members take part in many fundraising activities to purchase items for the Emergency Department, Hyland Crest Long-Term Care, as well as the other health services departments throughout the Minden site.   These are items not covered by the HHHS budget.   We also volunteer with the residents at Hyland Crest.

Our gift shop, staffed by our members, offers seasonal gifts as well as many other useful items.   We are located just inside the Hyland Crest Entrance.


Sunday to Friday from noon to 3 p.m.

Fundraising activities include:

  • Bowl-a-thon in May
  • Raffle
  • Gala (dinner and auctions) each November
  • Card parties
  • Gift shop

Some of the items recently purchased include:

  • Furnishings for long term care lounges
  • ER blood fridge
  • Upgraded lighting for the ER
  • Mattresses for the ER
  • Motorized curtains for the cafeteria
  • Bariatric scale and i-Stat Blood Analyser

New members are always welcome.   We meet on the first Thursday of each month at 9:30 a.m. in the Fireside Lounge (Hyland Crest Entrance).
