Hospice and Palliative Care
Community Support Services works with the Central East Local Health Integration Network (CE LHIN) to deliver programs that offer compassionate care and support for people facing a life limiting illness. Hospice is focused on life, not death and on quality of life. Practical and emotional support is provided to residents of Haliburton County in their own homes, in the hospital, in the hospice/palliative care suite(s) located at the Haliburton Hospital and in Long Term Care homes. All our volunteers are highly trained to support clients and their loved ones. After the death of a loved one, we can provide one-to-one bereavement support to family members to help them cope with their loss.
"Living with Cancer" - A support group open to anyone who has been diagnosed with or has survived cancer. Monthly meetings are held the third Tuesday of every month from 1 - 3 pm. It is your opportunity to share your questions and concerns with individuals who share your experience and to gain information, encouragement and hope.
Held in the Ruth Parkes Room at the Haliburton Hospital.

Palliative Care Community Team (PCCT)
The Palliative Care Community Team is a multidisciplinary team that will assist clients and their families when a diagnosis of a life limiting illness has been received. The Palliative Liaison Coordinator will collaborate with other members of the PCCT, Community Support Services, and the Access Centre (CE CCAC) to ensure that clients/families are receiving all the services required to provide the highest quality of life up to, and including, end of life care.
