Yesterday, November 29, 2022, the Haliburton, Kawartha, Pine Ridge (HKPR) District Health Unit declared that the COVID-19 outbreak at Highland Wood Long-Term Care is over. There were a total of 2 residents who tested positive during the outbreak, which was declared on November 20, 2022.
“It is a testament to the hard work and diligence of our staff, as well as the understanding and cooperation of residents and their family members, that this outbreak was brought to a swift end,” said Carolyn Plummer, President & CEO of HHHS. “We appreciate everyone’s contributions and support.”
Highland Wood has now re-opened for admission, and general visitors and outdoor visits may now resume. Outings from the home may also resume.
Highland Wood will continue to follow Infection Prevention and Control (IPAC) measures including mandatory masking for staff in all resident care areas, mandatory vaccination of staff and essential caregivers, daily surveillance testing of staff, essential caregivers, and visitors, active screening before entry into the home, and enhanced cleaning.
