On May 9, 2022, the Haliburton, Kawartha, Pine Ridge (HKPR) District Health Unit declared that the COVID-19 outbreak in the In-patient Department of the Haliburton Hospital is over. There were a total of 5 patients and staff who tested positive during the outbreak, which was declared on April 28, 2022.
“We are thankful for the excellent work of our staff and their diligence in maintaining our important infection prevention and control measures, which has brought this outbreak to an end,” said Carolyn Plummer, President & CEO of HHHS. “We are also grateful for the collaborative work done by our teams and the HKPR District Health Unit, as well as the support we received from our neighbouring partner hospitals.”
Regular activities for the In-patient Department will now resume, including receiving new admissions and allowing up to 2 dedicated visitors per inpatient.
Staff will continue to follow Infection Prevention and Control (IPAC) measures in the In-patient Department, including mandatory masking in all patient care areas, mandatory vaccination, regular surveillance testing, and active screening before entry into all facilities.
