Dear friends and neighbours of Haliburton County,
This week, we have a brief update with some important information to keep in mind when you are thinking of visiting any of our HHHS facilities, a reminder of the Haliburton County Virtual Primary Care Clinic, and a note about our incredible staff team.

No Public Access to HHHS Business Office & HHHS Foundation Office
As a result of increased community spread of COVID-19, HHHS has decided to temporarily pause public access to both our Business Office and the HHHS Foundation Office.
If you have a bill to pay or a donation you wish to make, please contact the offices at the phone numbers listed below.
Pay a Bill / Contact the HHHS Business Office: 705-457-1392, ext. 0
Make a Donation / Contact the HHHS Foundation Office: 705-457-1580
Visitor Policy at HHHS
Similarly, HHHS has made some changes to its visitor policy in order to protect the health and safety of residents, patients, and our staff teams.
Visiting Long-Term Care (Highland Wood and Hyland Crest)
General visiting and day outings have been paused. Residents can designate up to two (2) essential caregivers, unless the resident is receiving palliative/end-of-life care. Caregivers will be screened and a COVID-19 rapid test will be administered, with a negative result required before entry to the home.
Visiting the Emergency Departments and/or Acute Care Hospital
For patients in the Emergency Departments, there are currently no visitors allowed.
For patients in Acute Care Hospital, visitors are limited to essential caregivers. Up to two (2) essential caregivers can be designated, though only one (1) may visit at a time and only one (1) visit is allowed per day. Caregivers will be screened and a COVID-19 rapid test will be administered, with a negative result required before entry to the unit.
In both departments, exceptions will be made for patients who are under 16 years of age, palliative and critically ill patients, and those patients that the nurse deems appropriate.
Across our organization, phone and virtual visits with residents and patients can be scheduled. Please contact the relevant Long-Term Care home, or the Nursing Station at 705-457-1392 ext. 2224.
Reminder – Haliburton County Virtual Primary Care Clinic
If you live in Haliburton County and do not have a family doctor or nurse practitioner, you are eligible to seek care at the new Haliburton County Virtual Primary Care Clinic.
Patients will meet with a family doctor through a secure Ontario Telemedicine Network video session, with the assistance of a nurse. Patients will experience consistent care, as they work with the same physician over time. They will be transitioned to a local family doctor when one becomes available.
Book an appointment by calling HHHS Community Programs at 705-457-2941 x 2294. The Community Programs team will help you register with Health Care Connect and ensure you don't already have a family doctor. A Patient Consent form and questionnaire is also available on our website (visit the link on the right-hand side of this page).
Please note that the Clinic will not offer walk-in services - all appointments must be pre-booked, and the Clinic does not issue or refill narcotics prescriptions.
Superhero Staff at HHHS
While we are very grateful for the agency staff who have helped us keep our Emergency Departments open recently, I want to share again that our in-house staff team at HHHS is truly what makes our world go around. Time and time again, wave after wave, the HHHS staff and physician team have stepped up, putting our residents and patients first, and going above and beyond to deliver the quality care that we all depend on.
Their compassion and dedication to our patients, residents, clients, community, and the organization as whole is incredible, and we continue to look for new and innovative ways to support them and recognize their amazing contributions.
If you have a HHHS staff or physician team member in your life, please take a moment to thank them – again - for their hard work to keep our community healthy and safe!
