Completely rebuilt and re-opened in 2000, Hyland Crest provides 62 long-term care beds in private and semi-private rooms, each with a bathroom, closet and finger-tip adjustable beds. One Respite Bed is available for occassional stay. Seasonal decorating, special musical events, weekly entertainers, are just part of the great past-times that occur at Hyland Crest. Each week, spiritual sessions (church) takes place with all faiths requested by the residents.
Meal Plans include two choices at every meal with nutritious and appealing favourites - the Diner's Club of H.C. residents, provide input toward special dinners. The dining atmosphere is monitored to provide a pleasurable dining experience, with tablecloths, background music and smiling attendants. Residents' Council allows for input from all residents regarding improvements, concerns and requests.
One Registered Nurse is on site 24 hrs every day. PSW's and RPN's provide one-on-one care to meet the needs of all residents. The Minden Hospital Emergency Department is located within the same building, with doctors and nurses available to provide quick response in emergency situations. Dr. Mike Armstrong is the Medical Director, examining and monitoring residents of Hyland Crest. Specialists become involved, as required on an individual basis, with many other medical and community services available, as needed such as physiotherapy, dental care, hair and nail care, geriatric psychiatry, etc.
