HHHS Partners with the Kawartha Lakes Ontario Health Team

Following a decision by the Ministry of Health in late 2020 that Haliburton County-based health service providers should partner with a neighbouring Ontario Health Team (OHT), Haliburton Highlands Health Services (HHHS) engaged in a comprehensive review process of potential OHT partners with other Haliburton-County providers. At the conclusion of this review, HHHS has announced that it will partner with the Kawartha Lakes OHT (KL-OHT).

“We know that many people in Haliburton County already access services provided by members of the KL-OHT and HHHS already has strong relationships with those providers,” said Carolyn Plummer, President & CEO of HHHS. “Partnering with the KL-OHT will mean that we can work more closely together to deliver better coordinated care to patients across Haliburton County.”

Many benefits to joining the KL-OHT

Benefits of joining the KL-OHT identified by HHHS include its positive reputation, KL-OHT members already having an awareness of many of the health needs of Haliburton County residents, the public health unit region includes Haliburton County and the City of Kawartha Lakes, and Ross Memorial Hospital (RMH) and HHHS share many integrated services, as well as the Epic Clinical Information System.

We know that HHHS already shares the same goals with us, and we are looking forward to growing our work in the Haliburton County region.”

Haliburton County residents will continue to contact their health care providers as they always have to access the health care they need. The KL-OHT is working to create a seamless health system for our communities and will help patients experience easier transitions from one provider to another, while supporting them to live their healthiest possible life.
