Today, the Ontario Ministry of Health announced an urgent care clinic will open at Haliburton Highlands Health Services Minden hospital site to provide routine and urgent care to the people of our community. Haliburton Highlands Health Services (HHHS) is proud to work with the Ministry of Health and Kawartha North Family Health Team (KNFHT) to support the operation of this urgent care clinic in Minden.
This urgent care clinic is an opportunity to provide expedited access to health care services for our community. Initially the urgent care clinic will be open on weekends starting June 30th and planning is underway to operate the clinic up to seven days a week based on the community’s needs.
We are grateful to the Ministry of Health who will provide annual operating funds, and one-time equipment costs to support the urgent care clinic and to the Kawartha North Family Health Team who acted fast to make this clinic a reality. There is more to be done to ensure our community continues to have access to the care they need and creating an urgent care clinic is an important step in this journey.
Working with the community and our health system partners to provide quality care to patients is a priority. HHHS is committed to working with the community moving forward to shape the future of health care in our region.
Our new Acting CEO, Veronica Nelson, has already started meeting with frontline staff and will continue to do outreach with the community over the coming days. Ms. Nelson will be hosting town halls to hear from the community and discuss together how we plan to continue to provide high-quality care for this community today, and into the future.
