Dear Community,
On behalf of the Board of Directors of Haliburton Highlands Health Services (HHHS), I share with mixed emotions that our President and CEO, Veronica Nelson, will be moving on to a new opportunity as President and CEO of Ross Memorial Hospital (RMH). Veronica’s last day at HHHS will be September 5, 2025. While we are sad to see Veronica go, we are deeply grateful for her leadership and look forward to strengthening our existing meaningful partnership with RMH through shared services and team.
Since joining HHHS, Veronica has been a transformational leader, guiding the organization through a period of tremendous growth and renewal. Under her leadership, the hospital successfully brought CT services to the community, began the essential work of master planning for both the hospital and long-term care homes, forged new community partnerships, and laid a foundation of trust and transparency that has become a hallmark of our culture. Veronica’s deep commitment to patient care and community health led to the recruitment of new physicians and the formation of a strong and collaborative leadership team.
“It has been the honour of a lifetime to serve as President and CEO of this incredible organization. I am deeply grateful to our dedicated staff, outstanding leadership team, board of directors, foundation, auxiliary, community partners, residents, families, and most importantly, our patients, clients and residents. Thank you for your trust, your collaboration, and your unwavering commitment to care. While I look forward to this next chapter, I will always carry immense pride in what we’ve accomplished together at HHHS.” said Veronica Nelson.
The Board of Directors will be meeting in the next couple of weeks to begin the search for her successor. We look to the future with confidence and excitement, building on the strong foundation that was developed under Veronica’s leadership.
We are very excited for Veronica as she begins this next chapter in her career. Her steady leadership has been instrumental in shaping who we are today, and while we will miss her dearly, we know she will continue to thrive and inspire in her new role. Please join us in thanking Veronica and wishing her every success in the journey ahead.
Regards,
Irene Odell
